CCC Golf Tournament – September 9, 2016

The 2016 Canmore Connection Charity Golf Event – September 9, 2016

The Canmore Connection is not a club, company or organisation.  It is simply a group of individuals who enjoy golfing with friends and associates for a great cause.

The Canmore Connection Charity Golf Event is primarily comprised of individuals from Calgary.  The “connection” is that most of the participants are engaged in the oil and gas industry and have a common interest in the area and in the community. More recently the group has expanded to include locals from the Bow Valley who want to support the Canmore Hospital.

In 2004 and 2005 twenty-eight golfers from this group, played in the Health Care Foundation’s main fund raiser golf event held at Silvertip.  In response to growing demand, in 2006 the CCC became its’ own event held at the Canmore Golf & Curling Club.  Since then the CCC became increasingly popular, often selling out in a short time with 144 golfers.

In addition to a spectacular venue shared with good friends, the cause is also worthy.  The Canmore and Area Health Care Foundation’s mandate is to raise funds to purchase much needed medical equipment and programs for the Canmore General Hospital.  In the past twelve years, this group of individuals from the Canmore Connection has raised over $350,000 for the Foundation.

As in the past, 100% of the funds received by the Canmore Connection, after paying the Golf Club’s fixed fees, go directly to the Foundation.  Over the years the Canmore Connection participants have been pleased to see their donations go to help purchase items such as endoscopic equipment (used for colonoscopies), heart telemetry equipment, ultrasound equipment, state of the art anesthetic equipment and aid in the expansion of the chemotherapy unit for cancer patients.  In addition, they have donated to the Foundation’s Endowment Fund.  These endowments provide for the sustainability of our future health care.

As for the actual golf event, it is intended to be a fun networking format and accordingly there are no prizes for technical golf skill. As a result, the Teams decide whether to each play their own ball, best ball or some combination thereof.  This allows both novice and keen golfers a great day and enables the game to go quickly. We normally finish in just over five hours and golf is followed by a wonderful dinner at the Club. Our prize format has been unique with companies donating good quality items, complete with their logo as a way to show their support. If you wish to take part, prize donors are recognized in our power point presentation at dinner.

We hope you will find this of interest and would be pleased to have you participate.
