“We’re very lucky to have the public health care system that we have, but there are certain things that individual communities would benefit from that the government won’t support or can’t support.”

— Dr. Mike Wickham, Emergency Physician Lead, Canmore General Hospital

“If we can increase the support for the hospital it benefits ourselves of course, but the entire community.”

— Ann Keith, Volunteer and Donor

Our Programs

The Canmore and Area Health Care Foundation supports the Canmore General Hospital in fulfilling its needs that are not currently available through Alberta Health Services. Our contributions to the hospital include raising funds and managing capital. In addition, we support programs such as the ones you see on the following pages. We wish to assist the Canmore General Hospital and the very dedicated staff to provide the best health care possible to all residents in its service areas as well as visitors to our beautiful part of the world. Our equipment purchases are initiated by request from the Canmore General Hospital. Funds that you donate to specific units or programs within the hospital will only be used for that area according to your wishes.

Interview with CAHCF Executive Director, Soulafa AL-ABBASI

“I decided to pursue a career in health-care philanthropy because of the importance my community places on health and wellness. I’ve lived in many places, but I think Canmore has a special kind of attitude towards work-life balance. It was also an opportunity for me to work with a brilliant, visionary board and to work with the amazing leadership at the hospital. It’s quite inspiring to be a part of that team and contribute to their work.”
