Women's Health

Obstetrics is the key women’s health component that receives funding from the Canmore and Area Health Care Foundation. Recently funds from the Foundation have been directed for the purchase of a Panda Infant Warmer and Resuscitation Unit as well as a birthing bed. Babies born with jaundice benefit from the phototherapy unit and to ensure healthy deliveries, a fetal monitor was sourced.

There are annually approximately 325 births at the Canmore General Hospital.

Healthy Moms/Healthy Babies is a free public health program for pregnant women living on a low income. This program provides support during pregnancy and for six months after the baby arrives. Services include: free food coupons, free childbirth classes, referrals to community agencies, parenting and birth control information, family support, crisis help, etc.
