We are pleased to announce that the Foundation has reached our fundraising goal for the 3MDR Machine.

Join us in our mission to bring cutting-edge mental health care to the Bow Corridor Health Service Area. The Canmore Hospital Foundation (CHF) is partnering with the University of Alberta's HEROES IN MIND, ADVOCACY AND RESEARCH CONSORTIUM (HIMARC) to introduce innovative solutions for mental wellness, particularly targeted at health care providers, first responders, military members, veterans, and their families.

The 3MDR Machine: Revolutionizing PTSD Treatment

At the heart of this initiative lies the Multi-Modal Motion-Assisted Memory Desensitization and Reconsolidation (3MDR) machine. Developed by HIMARC, this groundbreaking technology utilizes virtual reality-supported exposure therapy to treat PTSD and related conditions. By engaging patients in a controlled environment where they walk on a treadmill and interact with customized images related to their past traumas, 3MDR offers a novel approach to therapy, combining elements of virtual reality exposure therapy and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing.

Transforming Trauma into Healing

With your support, CHF will purchase a 3MDR machine and collaborate with Dr. Suzette Brémault-Phillips, Director of HIMARC, to establish this cutting-edge treatment in the Canmore General Hospital. This initiative aims to revolutionize mental health care delivery, providing a lifeline of hope and healing to those struggling with the invisible wounds of trauma.

Who Will Benefit?

The impact of this project extends far beyond the walls of the hospital. The Bow Corridor Health Service Area serves approximately 30,000 residents and hosts nearly 4 million tourists annually. In addition to local communities, this initiative will benefit the 8,000 doctors, 26,000 nurses, 4,500 firefighters, 4,200 paramedics, 8,000 police officers, and 4,200 RCMP officers across Alberta. With mental health conditions affecting a significant portion of first responders, this project addresses a critical need for accessible and effective PTSD treatment.

Your Contribution Matters

The estimated cost of this project is $65,000, covering equipment procurement, space renovation, staff training, and maintenance. Your generous donations will enable us to make a tangible difference in the lives of those grappling with mental health challenges, empowering them to reclaim their well-being and resilience.
