Announcing a New Major Gift: Giving Back To Health Care Heroes

The Canmore & Area Health Care Foundation (now the Canmore Hospital Foundation) is delighted to announce a new major gift from Pierre and Sylvie Doyon, valued members of our community. This generous contribution will be used to renovate the staff rooms at Canmore General Hospital starting with the Main Staff Room.  

“We are enormously grateful to the Doyon family,” said Kristen Pauch-Nolin, Executive Director of the Foundation. “This gift is transformational and will help recognize and celebrate the hard-working staff at Canmore General Hospital.”  

Board Chair Steven Scott affirmed that “Pierre and Sylvie’s gift demonstrates what the Foundation is about –providing funds that support the needs of the hospital and its staff so that the incredible patient care delivered at Canmore General Hospital can continue. The impact of this renovation will not only achieve that goal but help celebrate the unwavering dedication and commitment the of our healthcare workers.” 

The Doyon gift is intended to directly impact hospital staff, by creating purpose designed spaces where they can relax, destress, recharge, and continue providing world class health care services in our community.  

“Our family has received exceptional healthcare and medical attention over the 20+ years we've been living in the Bow Valley” said Pierre Doyon, “Our donation to enhance the staff room is one way to say thank you to the people directly responsible for all the good they have done and continue to do in delivering compassionate and competent health care in the Bow Valley.”  

The Doyon’s have spent more than two decades in the Bow Valley and are valued and engaged community members, with Pierre serving as a trustee on the Canmore & Area Health Care Board of Directors. As a family they are enthusiastic outdoor adventurers who enjoy activities in the mountains. Their granddaughter was born at the Canmore General Hospital and their youngest daughter benefited from the expertise of competent and caring staff at Canmore General during her career as a ski racer. They are champions of their local hospital, noting that they stay healthy and active thanks to the benefits of preventative medicine delivered in their own backyard. 

The Canmore & Area Health Care Foundation’s mission, to provide charitable financial resources for the continuing improvement of the facilities and services of the Canmore General Hospital, is as important today as ever, and this major gift enables the Foundation to fulfill its promise to Canmore hospital, its staff, and the community.
